Memories from My Acacia Scented Childhood

“At this hospital we underwent physical therapy — exercise and thermal therapy. Under this name an extremely unpleasant procedure was hidden, downright torture if I am honest. They would explain that paraffin wraps on your legs are good for the peripheral nervous system, restoring poor blood flow and enhancing mobility, but all I can remember is how unbearable they were; the paraffin was so hot that burned you to the bones, and the physical exercises were inconceivably hard. In spite of the fact that we could not stand, we were required to hold on to some bars fixed on the wall and try to climb up. That for us was impossible!”
